Book of Good Life

Case of the Mondays? Not me! In addition to 1st Grade Tefillah, I have the majority of my Jewish Music classes on Mondays. It's an excellent way to start the week! Today, we discussed Avinu Malkeinu (if you have not yet heard Barabara Streisand sing it, you should definitely check it out) and other Yom Kippur songs and traditions. As the legend goes, on Yom Kippur the gates of Heaven are open wide and all thoughts and prayers fly directly to G-d. These next few days leading up to Yom Kippur are part of the "Days of Awe" where we will practice Teshuvah, which is understood as setting our lives on the right path. This is our time to apologize and ask forgiveness to anyone we may have hurt during the year, as well as to think about how we can improve next year. This is our opportunity to be inscribed in the Book of Life. The Maccabeats have done it again, creating a parody of "Good Life" by One Repbulic. Check it out below.

Gmar Chatimah Tova. May you be inscribed (in the Book of Life) for Good.
